Being a novice to hunting and my first time in Africa, our PH, Jacques, was very welcoming of all my questions. I was observing and he made sure to point out other animals and would ask the driver would stop so I could get a good look. Even though I wasn't the hunter, he made sure I was enjoying the trip too. I was so impressed at the skill of Jacques & Papi. They were a great team and worked well together. I can't believe at how good was their eyesight! They could spot the tip of an animal's horns from a couple hundred feet away through the brush! The animals on the reserve were beautiful and plentiful. Both Jacques & Papi were excellent trackers, and Jacques was so knowledgeable about the different animals' behavior. This is one of the best trips I went on BECAUSE of the great hospitality. I felt like everyone was concerned with making sure that we were happy with our accommodations, food, and hunting. I loved the daily laundry service. It was very thoughtful that you asked us prior to our arrival about our preferences.

The room, food, and especially the staff were fantastic. Lots of animals and even had time for golf. Thanks again Willie and DD and staff. I’ve hunted 8 times in South Africa, and this was tops. A lot of game, patient PH, great time.

First class experience including hunting, accommodations, & service. Selection of game species & trophies were excellent. PH (JV) provides an excellent hunting experience. Properties are very large and provide a fair chase and challenging hunting setting. No need to ever leave the property.

Don was an outstanding PH. His ability to judge the quality of animals quickly was demonstrated on many occasions. He was professional and extremely knowledgeable about all of the animals being hunted. Also, his dedication to track and a poorly shot zebra was above and beyond. We recovered it - and it was due to Don and Marious and Richard the tracker's dedication! Outstanding!! This was my first South African hunt. It was a fantastic experience and won't be the last time I hunt with Wintershoek Safaris. Truly a professional group that provided an outstanding hunting experience.

Everything was top notch. Staff looked after us like we were royalty. PH’s were well trained and knowledgeable. Tons of game available in all species. I killed a great Cape Buffalo. I had a once in a lifetime Cape Buffalo hunt. Great trackers made my hunt a success.

Willie had a thorough knowledge of the ranch; he and I meshed well in all aspects of the hunting efforts. I have hunted big game for over 20 years. The entire experience at gamagara including the lodging, meals and overall attitude of the entire camp staff were first class. Game of all types is present at gamagara, yet the challenge of stalking and completing the taking of each game animal remains a well earned reward. The outdoor dinner was a special surprise.

Then entire experience, from arrival to the minute we left the farm was of world class standard. The hospitality, accommodation, and the hunt itself was a 5 star experience. Professionally conducted hunts. Ample good quality game to choose from. The overall experience was a memorable one. All aspects of our experience was first class.

From the first moment I have felt at home, my PH has adapted to my needs, giving me recommendations and achieving resounding success with all the species that I have been able to hunt. He has advised me and taught me a lot about shooting habits and animal customs. I can't think of anything that could be improved, a very high level.

I look back on our adventure to come hunt with you at Karreekloof and it seems like a dream. What a perfect time window to come visit you and your beautiful property/country. The quality of game that you and your colleagues have worked so hard to protect and nurture was above expectation. My trigger finger has had a hard time recovering with all the shooting:) I look at my pictures every day and can't believe how blessed we were to have had the safari we did. Every time I see/talk to my father and brother we can't get over how special a time we had with you guys. I can't express my appreciation for the amount of attention you took to make sure my father had a great time, and was taken care of. Thank you again for the magnificent time, an experience I know all the people in our group will never forget.

Everything was simply perfect. Gideon and his wife clearly run a tidy team, and no detail went unchecked. The warmth of the staff, the delicious yet unpretentious food, the familiar environment, 5 star all the way. I am missing it already! This was my first time hunting with a PH, but I cannot imagine it gets much better than hunting with John Tinley. The entire experience was great, better than I imagined it. John's amazing skill tracking the right animals, paired with his affable personality and evident passion for his job made the entire hunting experience perfect.

This is my third time hunting with Wintershoek and every trip has been outstanding, from the quality of game, food, accommodations, and most importantly the people.

This was a family trip with 2 cousins who had never been to Africa. It was a wonderful experience for them and everyone had a great time. Hunting was fabulous as usual.

The entire staff of Wintershoek was extremely professional. Both of the camps were extremely clean and welcoming. To say the hunting my experience was top notch is an understatement. I was truly privileged to have seen 2 different areas of South Africa in the Northern Cape and bushveld in Limpopo. Anyone looking for the best hunting, professional staff, and top notch accommodations in South Africa then Wintershoek Safaris is your answer.

Everything … the place is run top notch….food…the rooms… and especially the staff and ph’s…everyone is super professional and yet they all joked and had fun with us...me and my hunting companion are a couple jokesters and the people joined in our fun yet did their jobs in most professional fashion…this was a trip I will cherish and always remember…I will be back… I give it a 10 star our if 10… I made friends and learned a lot about the area and culture and animals…the PH’s are very knowledgeable and also share the answers to the many questions we had…I didnt want to leave…but like I said I’ll be back..again high praise for all the staff and accommodations…what a great operation.

Me and a friend went on a safari with wintershoek the beginning of may this year and had a super time..this place is top notch and everything from the accommodations to the meals ...the atmosphere....and also the p.h's .. the ph's were very professorial and very knowledgeable about the animals and the area..they had answers for all the questions we had and I'm not sure I have ever laughed so hard for so many days straight..we had a blast and made a lot of new friends ...everything is top notch and the people that are involved are all super ....I will be back for sure...hopefully next year.....

The professionalism is of everyone on this farm is the best that I have experienced in South Africa. Wonderful people..feels blike being with long time friends. very nice accommodations and great food...will always recommend wintershoek to anyone???? decided to bring the ladies and another fellow hunter (his first time in Africa/and his lady also) and all of us had a remarkable experience...us guys had the opportunity to take many trophies and the ladies went with us a few times and were also taken on a trip alone to see animals and were filled with knowledge...they loved the entire trip as much as the men /hunters...the entire operation from managers down to the skinners and trackers are amazing people who go over and above.

The PH (John) was amazing, and everybody went out of their way to make us feel at home. I particularly appreciated the staff's efforts to accommodate our dietary needs. I learned a lot! My guide was also my teacher. I hunted all the animals I wanted (10 in 10 days). And each one of those hunts (and many other efforts that didn't end in a shot) were great adventures.

Basically John made me feel safe, put me in position to be successful and guided me to success. He did that in a way that was friendly yet firm. He included my wife in the process. I would be happy to have John lead me again. Great animals. Great hunting areas. Safe and exciting at the same time. Availability of premium animals if you put in the time, effort and patience. No feeling of too easy or canned hunting. A great deal of support when needed. Always felt like we were supported. Anticipating what we wanted was the norm. Attention to detail and friendliness made us feel comfortable.

Johan was wonderful. He took his time and made you feel relaxed. The hunting was great and even the downtime was a lot of fun. He knew the game and made good recommendations too. This was my first safari and I wish I had gone sooner. The safari was exciting band In learned a lot

Outstanding PH work. We have hunted in many places and by far Wintershoek has been at the top of the log, from arrival to departure everything was a 5 star texperience. You have many options of animals and the animal condition is outstanding. the hospitality is a true South African experience.

We were very privileged to have had a most enjoyable 3 day hunt at Wintershoek, with 3 excellent and dedicated PH's. Accommodation and meals were superb. For us locals, it was beyond expectation. Abre, Willie and Flip were appointed to us as the PH's, knowlegde and understanding of the area was testiment to us having a successful hunt. in the 3 days we had, we were able to shoot our quota. the Bull Buff and Sable met and exceeded expectations. spotters, trackers did a great job and the recovery of animals was very professionally executed. I would like to say that we have 2,5 days to hunt our quota and this was successfully done. I liked the fact that we had no gates, no fences to cross. This was a large area to hunt and I would recommend Nyara Lodge if you want to hunt in a short space of time. Bernie, our head chef cooked amazing food and full credit to her. everyone went out of their way to make our hunt a memorable one.

Johan Maritz is an amazing PH with a great personality. This is the 2nd year we have hunted with him and requested him. He is an amazing spotter and knows how to get you to the animal for a successful shot. His hosting skills in the evenings are great as well. As an observer to a husband and son hunting, Johan makes it fun to ride and stalk with them daily. Wife going along on the truck and stalk to watch husband and son hunt. Great quality of animals and a great variety. 2nd time with Wintershoek and have loved the experience both times. Very friendly. You felt like you were part of the family.

Johann works hard, knows the animals and terrain. He has a good personality and makes the whole family feel imoirtant and have fun. Animals aplenty, great weather, we got every target species. We had a great time.

The hunting area and quality of game far exceeded our expectations. And the lodging was amazing. Finally, all the staff including logde, trackers, and skinners were very helpful, polite and fun. Dale Berger is a previous client who highly recommends Wintershoek, and he helped us with our travel planning. His recommendation was correct. We were successful in bagging more species than planned, and the size of the trophies were amazing. We hope to return and bring more of our family members to enjoy this epic experience.. Marius and MJ did a wonderful job on our hunt. I couldn't believe their ability to quickly spot and identify the trophies we desire. When we return, we'll have to look for different species because we harvested very large trophies on this hunt. I don't think we'll be able to upgrade our trophies in the future. Finally, they paid attention to our every need, and we really enjoyed their humor and stories. Not only did we harvest incredible trophies, we had so much fun laughing and enjoying our time together.

Rudolph was an excellent PH. He has a great personality with clients, and is very professional. He is also a patient and strategic hunter and PH. We had a limited time to hunt. Rudolph had thought through a plan to make the most of our time. Our stalks on game were carefully done by Rudolph, which created opportunities for good shots, and no time spent tracking wounded animals.

My son and I have hunted with Wintershoek Safaris twice and have already booked our third hunt. Their Professional Hunters are the best in the business. Safari Club International named Johnny Vivier International Professional Hunter of the Year at their 2019 Convention and Yvan Nieuwoudt was named South Africa's Professional Hunter of the Year the previous year. The quality of the game is outstanding and our trophy room is filled with several record book trophies from Wintershoek concessions. The accommodations, food, and drink can only be described as 5 star or first class. Their Professional Hunters, trackers, and entire staff are very attentive and focused on making your safari the memory of a lifetime. At the end of the day it is the people that make a difference and you won't find a better team of people to hunt with that believe in hunting hard but having fun along the way. You arrive at Wintershoek as a client but you leave as a good friend and you will be looking forward to your next hunt with them from the moment you complete your last hunt.

Excellent hunting experience We had 10 family members with us including one with Cerebral Palsy and the entire crew at Wintershoek couldn’t have done a better job! Not only did we have a fantastic hunt but they also offer video options so you’ll never forget your experience! These guys are the real deal!

Extremely sastisfied bucket list experience! This was the second time my wife and I hunted with intershoek, and we've harvested several trophy quality animals with them. PH's, staff and facilities are all top notch. I would have no reservations recommending this operation!

My hunt was a huge success. My wife went with me and believe me she isn’t an Outdoors Women. She was treated like family and every effort was made with het comfort and her experiencing top of mind.

Everything was first class, good hunting, the people at the lodge were professionals, the rooms were luxurious and the food was delicious! The trophy quality was excellent and seeing all the rhinos was a once in a lifetime experience. Not much to dislike, I would liked to have spent more time, but that’s on me.
